Why UV and ultrasonic cleaning solve different problems
Ultrasonic cavitation is a mechanical process: microscopic bubbles collapse against the surface of a retainer and physically dislodge plaque and debris from grooves a toothbrush can't reach. UV-C light does something different — it targets bacteria and odour-causing microorganisms on the surface, which is why a retainer can look clean under plain water and still smell stale after a few days. Running both together, as the MS100 does, addresses the two problems that plague retainer hygiene separately rather than assuming one fixes the other.
